Making Your Nursery More Effective - Step 1

Nursery Ministry is one of the most important ministries you can ever be involved with!  What better place to start teaching our children about God and the love of Jesus, than with our infants and toddlers! Children are truly a blessing onto us, and in turn we want to be a blessing onto them by providing them with a fun, safe, learning environment to encourage physical and spiritual growth and development!  It's hard to believe, but children ages 0-2 years old can really understand what we are teaching them.  They are like sponges.  Reading, story telling, and role playing different bible stories with young children gives them the foundation to grow in God's word, and enables them to be familiar with the word before they enter into Children's Ministry.  I have personally witnessed toddlers who have been involved in the nursery ministry, come into Children's Ministry knowing far more than those children who have not had the opportunity to be in nursery ministry!  In addition, those toddlers had parents who were active teachers at home.  Let's make a committment to partner with parents to teach our children.

Making your nursery more effective for chidren to grow spiritually should be one of your first goals.  Evaluating how your nursery currently operates can be the very first step to making it more effective for the children, parents, and your staff!  Therefore,  I challenge you to really think about what you want the children to gain from being a part of your nursery ministry, what you want parents to experience and expect when their children are in your care, and  what you want and  expect from your nursery staff.  Write it down and keep all your thoughts and ideas together because I will be offering more suggetions and steps throughout the year to help you make your nursery ministry more effective!

Sanitation Tip:  Use Clorox Anywhere to sanitize your nursery toys after each class.   Just spray on toys and surfaces and allow to dry for 2 minutes.  No wiping!  It is safe for children, pets, and around food!!
