New Year, New Beginning, New Topic
Happy 2010 my friends.
As I shared in my November article, I am now leading Women’s Ministry at
Prairie Family Church but after being asked and prayerfully considering this
position I have eagerly agreed to stay on and am looking forward to sharing
much more with you over the coming months.
It seems with each generation our children are forced to
grow up faster and have to deal with more and more pressure in their lives. All
one has to do is look at the current divorce rates in our country and the
escalation in the number of cases of abuse and bullying that we read about in
the news daily.
The Lord has led me to an awesome resource which we will be
reviewing over the next few months.
The book is entitled Group’s Emergency Response Handbook for Children’s
Ministry. I believe and wholeheartedly recommend that it become a staple
resource in every church for the CM department.
We will cover signs to watch for, care and counseling tips,
ministry tips, what and what not to say and scripture references for the
following topics. - Abuse
- Bullying
- Changing Family Dynamics
- Death
- Depression
- Divorce
- Legal Trouble
- Moving
- Special Needs
- Substance Abuse
- Terminal Illness
- Tragic Personal Loss
The Lord himself said “Let the children come to me.” Mark
10:14b. This can be difficult when children are damaged by tragedy or pain.
We love them and want to help them grow closer to Jesus especially in these
situations. My goal is to help all
of us be prepared and to have the tools we need to partner with parents and other
caregivers in helping children deal with these issues.
Next moth we will jump in and begin the journey together.
In Him,
CJ Schindler
